Crown defines a Category as a grouping of similar products for which a common strategy can be developed. Category Managers lead the Category globally as the subject matter expert related to the supply chains and focus on developing and implementing end-to-end supply chain strategies. Category Management provides more focus to key strategic initiatives and work across the supply chain (Strategic Sourcing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, etc.) to co-create business strategies for their Category. The Category Manager has oversight to sourcing strategies in their Category and may create and led a source strategy as needed. Whereas Strategic Sourcing is center led across global production locations, Categories are centralized globally to ensure alignment to corporate goals and strategies.

This position has potential to sit in a Crown Branch outside of New Bremen, Ohio.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Global Supply Chain Development and Implementatio n - Research, develop, and implement global category strategies based on business opportunities and needs with input from key stakeholders and a focus on the customer. Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify all stages in the supply chain, define the scope of work and publish a strategic plan. Assist in the development, alignment, communication, and outcome goals within and between all departments and stages in the end-to-end supply chain.

  • Category Data and Market Review Development - Periodically review and update published plans to reflect leading edge thinking. Work closely with stakeholders throughout all stages of the supply chain to ensure proper alignment with new technology and product development. Continuously review market and technology impact on all stages of the supply chain, including potential impacts to customers and competitors. Seek out leading edge expertise, technology, intelligence, and develop academic and intellectual prowess in the markets, technologies and processes of assigned spend categories.

  • Monitoring and Business Reporting - Define appropriate financial and operational metrics from top line revenue through to bottom line savings. Systematically follow up and obtain feedback to ensure actual financial, operational, and other business outcomes meet or exceed expectations. Periodically report results and future expectations to stakeholders and management.

  • Compliance with Category Strategies - Transition the administration of implemented category strategies to local and regional Strategic Sourcing employees. Analyze data against category baseline data and ensure local, regional, and global operations are in alignment and are complying with category strategies. Visit manufacturing, retail and other operations to review and monitor results. Take corrective action as appropriate to ensure improved business outcomes materialize.

  • Miscellaneous - Attend trade shows and other related industry events. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years' related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering)

  • Extensive travel (over 20%)

  • Extensive overnight stays (over 20%)

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in electronics, such as semiconductor, motor control, or sensing supply chain,

  • Possess the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal, change management and negotiation skills.

  • Experience in strategic thinking, goal setting, leadership, developing innovative solutions, problem solving and being a change agent with Lift Truck type manufacturing and corresponding retail operations from domestic and international multi-tier supply chain providers.

  • Experience traveling and conducting business internationally.

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead cross functional, multinational teams.

  • SAP experience.

  • Proficient PC skills, PowerPoint, Excel. Certified Professional in Supply Management (ISM) or American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification.
