Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Interim Assistant Golf Course Manager (Casual ) for the Golf Course. Under the general direction of the Professional/Manager, the Interim Assistant Manager has daily authority over all aspects of golf course play. The position is guided by written golf course policies and procedures.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Make decisions requesting a player to discontinue play and leave the golf course for policy violations.
  • Ability to engender an efficient, friendly attitude in the seasonal support personnel for the player constituency.
  • Daily contact with the playing constituency that requires the players' needs to be met within golf course policies with tact, diplomacy, and courtesy.
  • Coordinating and supervising the daily activities of all golf shop support personnel.
  • Accounting of daily revenues and deposits as well as overseeing the opening and/or closing of the golf course.
  • Properly maintaining the practice and teaching area.
  • Closing/Opening the golf course for bad weather or unplayable conditions.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience in an administrative function.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a pro shop setting or outside operations is strongly preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work opening and closing shifts as per the needs of the golf course.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Due to the nature of the position, the applicant must play golf and be familiar with golf terminology and etiquette.
