Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Assistant, Per Diem within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Naomi Tan, PhD, the purpose of the Research Assistant position is to support research on shared decision-making for lung cancer screening. The Research Assistant will be involved in research-related activities such as obtaining institutional review board approval, design of study materials, recruiting, monitoring, and contacting participants, conducting remote interviews/surveys and data collection, maintaining databases, and supporting dissemination of research findings. Participant contact may occur during evening or weekend hours to ensure highest response rates.Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Prepares and maintains regulatory documentation, including IRB, OnCore, and Clinicaltrials.gov as needed.
  • Conducts targeted literature searches and web searches. As directed, provides support in the preparation of presentations. Assists in the preparation of publishable manuscripts and grants.
  • Creates surveys using survey software programs as directed. Conducts remote qualitative interviews/surveys and administers surveys per study protocol. Abstracts information from medical records per protocol, maintaining confidentiality of data.
  • Research activities may require flexible (i.e., evening or weekend) activities on occasion per project demands.
  • Responsible for study data entry, data management, preliminary data screening, and data cleaning throughout the project. As directed, provides support in other data processing and analysis. Prepares reports containing findings, analysis, conclusion and recommendations (i.e., grants, narratives, position papers, etc.), as requested.
  • Actively participates in study-related meetings and conference calls. Develops meeting agendas and minutes and presents reports and study updates.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus one (1) year of related research experience.
  • Equivalent experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated detail orientation; strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Zoom, and Teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Skills with survey building software such as REDCap and experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS) and IRB submissions preferred.
