Department | SAS - Physics & Astronomy |
Salary | Commensurate With Experience |
Posting Summary | The Department of Physics and Astronomy/SAS at Rutgers University plans to hire a Research Associate in the field of theoretical condensed matter physics. This is a non-tenure track position. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in condensed matter physics, and at least two years of postdoctoral experience. They should demonstrate excellence in research and strong communication skills. The successful candidate is expected to study and develop codes for strongly correlated systems based on electronic structure plus dynamical mean-field theory and extensions of these methodologies and assist in the preparation of research proposals. We are working on a variety of research problems ranging from the conceptual challenges posed by strongly correlated electron materials to the development of codes to carry out first principles calculations of materials which we test on materials of current experimental interest. We are interested in developing new field theory methods, computational methods and electronic structure techniques for strongly correlated systems, and our research program is suitable for strong candidates with expertise in any of these areas. There is particular interest in exascale computation. We have strong ties with many exciting theoretical and experimental research efforts in the NJ/NY area, including other departments Rutgers, Brookhaven National Laboratories and the flatiron institute. `CCQ, and with other theory and experimental members of the Rutgers and Brookhaven Condensed Matter Theory and Experiment groups. The successful candidate will have opportunities to diversity their research through these collaborations. |
