\ \ DATE: May 20, 2024\ \ FROM: Human Resources\ \ POSITION: Assistant Coach Track & Field (PT)\ \ Effective immediately: (PT) Assistant Coach Track & Field - Wilmington University, New Castle.\ \ About Wilmington University: Wilmington University is an NCAA Division II university that competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), and its main campus is located in New Castle, Delaware, with the WU Athletics Complex located six miles away in Newark. The athletics department sponsors 16 varsity sports.\ Wilmington University is a private, non-sectarian university, which offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of career areas. The University began with a charter class of 194 students in 1968 and now enrolls a diverse student body numbering more than 19,000 annually. The University offers flexible course scheduling with six ways to take a class over a 15-week semester: semester, block, modular, online, hybrid, and fusion courses.\ \ Requirements: The incumbent must have a Bachelor\'s degree. Must have excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must have the ability to multi-task, work independently as well as be creative and innovative. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel and familiarity with other Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of competition and safety rules. Must represent the University in a professional manner at all times as well as have the ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.\ \ Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Teach the sport of track & field at the NCAA Division II varsity level.
• Recruit, coach, mentor, and instruct student-athletes in a positive manner on a day-to-day basis at practice and in competition.
• Design annual training progressions for assigned training groups (throwing, sprinting, hurdling, or jumping events).
• Assist the head coach with other training groups as needed and coverage of daily practice needs.
• Document and keep records for each practice session appropriately.
• Document and submit weekly CARA logs properly.
• Serve as liaison to academic associates, trainers, and strength & conditioning staff.
• Help current student-athletes maintain eligibility by coordinating and collecting progress reports, monitoring attendance at study tables, and directing athletes to available academic resources. This will require regular follow-up with student-athletes to assist and ensure they complete these tasks.
• Complete and submit a monthly contact log to the head coach with all PSA contacts and documenting all recruiting activities.
• Attend departmental staff/compliance meetings.
• Be knowledgeable of and work within Wilmington University and NCAA Division II missions.
• Assist the head coach in the supervision of team travel.
• Must take and pass the NCAA Recruiting Exam annually and be knowledgeable of NCAA Compliance Rules.
• Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Head Coach and/or the Director of Athletics.

\ Hours of Employment: Primarily evening hours, however, the incumbent must be flexible enough with their hours to meet the needs of the team, department, and the University.
