Position Description

The Senior Facilities Manager plays a crucial role in supporting all facilities across the company. In this position, you'll oversee the operation and maintenance of the company's physical infrastructure. This role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and hands-on management to ensure that facilities are safe, efficient, and aligned with the company's goals. The Senior Facilities Manager will lead a team of facilities professionals and coordinate with various departments to support the organization's operational needs. This role is not for the faint of heart, but for someone who will roll up their sleeves and go to work knowing what they do makes a difference.

What You'll Do:

Facilities Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of all company facilities, with a strong on-site component for our New Hartford, New York location; where this position is based.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage and mentor a team of facilities staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and development opportunities.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Budgeting and Financial Management:

  • Prepare and manage the facilities budget.
  • Monitor expenditures and optimize costs without compromising service quality.
  • Approve purchase orders and vendor contracts.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with external service providers.
  • Ensure vendors deliver services as per contractual agreements.
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of vendor performance.

Space Planning and Utilization:

  • Develop and implement space utilization plans to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Coordinate office moves, renovations, and refurbishments.
  • Optimize space to enhance employee productivity and satisfaction.

Security and Emergency Management:

  • Develop and oversee security policies and procedures.
  • Manage emergency response and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure that security systems are effective and up to date.

Sustainability Initiatives:

  • Promote and implement sustainability practices.
  • Monitor and report on energy usage and environmental impact.
  • Identify opportunities for reducing the carbon footprint.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and inspections.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in facilities management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role is required.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in facilities management software and tools.
  • Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial planning.
  • A certified Facility Manager (CFM) or similar professional certification is highly desirable, but not required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to perform occasional evening or weekend work.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to walk, stand, and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds.

The base salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 USD per year commensurate with work location, experience, skills, certifications, education, and prior accomplishments.

The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus, commission and/or equity, as applicable.
