General Description
Anatomy is a foundational biology course designed for students interested in pursuing careers in health and medicine. Students will learn the histology, anatomy, and physiology of the skeletal, muscular, nervous, and cardiovascular systems. This course will provide an understanding of the structure and function of the human body when in homeostasis or disease.
The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve 250 middle and high school students throughout the city each year. https://step.baruch.cuny.edu.
The Summer 2024 Program has 16 sessions:
July 8 - August 1 from 9am-2pm Mondays through Thursdays
Schedule: 9am-2pm + weekly one hour faculty meeting
Salary: The pay rate is $45 an hour for a total of $4,500. This includes 72 hours of instruction and 28 hours for campus orientation, staff meetings, and prep work.
Other Duties
Plan and teach original course curriculum for 20-25 students
Evaluate student and group performance
Provide staff with measurable results in student learning through assessments
Monitor and maintain student attendance records
Reassess curriculum based on student needs, interest, and understanding of material.

Qualifications
Required:
Availability each program day from 9am – 2pm + weekly one hour faculty meetings
Degree in biology or related STEM field
Previous teaching role in the health sciences
Possess good interpersonal skills with teenagers
Experience guiding students with research projects
Preferred:
Prior experience with middle or high school students
Possess innovative and creative instructional methods
Enthusiasm for designing original, self directed curriculum
Have a strong classroom management style
Demonstrated ability to create an engaging and empathetic learning environment

About the Research Foundation
