Lilly Advisor/Sr. Advisor - Clinical Research Scientist, Prevail in New York, New York

At Prevail Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company, we are developing a pipeline of gene therapies to slow or stop the underlying disease process for patients with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. We are leveraging recent breakthroughs in human genetics that point to potential disease-modifying targets for neurodegenerative diseases. Our programs utilize a precision medicine approach targeting patient populations with urgent unmet needs, where there are currently no available therapies that modify the progressive course of their disorders.

Position Summary

As a Clinical Research Scientist, you will be an integral member of the clinical team and provide scientific expertise and leadership to programs both in the clinic and preparing to enter the clinic. You will work cross-functionally with Medical, Operational, Regulatory, Biomarker, Bioinformatics and Technical groups.

We are looking for a leader who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, collaborative and has excellent interpersonal skills and is capable of spanning multiple disease areas.

Successful applicants are expected to function with a high degree of independence in a fast-paced start-up environment while also working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team that is dedicated to the development of new therapies for lysosomal storage and neurodegenerative diseases.

Responsibilities:

  • Support clinical development, biomarker, regulatory plans

  • Provide clinical development perspective to the cross-functional team via hands-on collaboration with discovery, preclinical and bio-informatics teams

  • Develop clinical protocols

  • Support medical monitoring activities

  • Write and oversee development of key clinical documents and respond to regulatory authority and ethics committee queries

  • Analyze and summarize the clinical findings from studies to support decisions regarding safety and efficacy as well as regulatory strategy, results summarization and publications

  • Attend key scientific meetings and develop strong relationships with thought leaders in several disease areas

  • Lead advisory boards and communications with external data monitoring committees

  • Support development of scientific papers and overall communication plans

  • Provide oversight and management of CROs, clinical scientists, contract staff and vendors in supporting clinical activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD with 2+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters/PharmD with 10+ years of relevant work experience.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience in leading early development clinical programs, including developing clinical development and regulatory plans, writing core clinical documents (protocol/IB/IC/IND, medical monitoring, leading advisory boards, interacting with CROs and regulatory authorities)

  • Experience in gene therapy is preferable

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external vendors

  • Excellent written and communication skills

Additional Information:

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $138,000 to $222,200 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
