Position: Alumni Engagement Coordinator

Division: Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO)

Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000 annually

Bank Street has three divisions: the Children's Programs, including the School for Children, the Family Center and Liberty LEADS; the Graduate School of Education; and the Bank Street Education Center, which house's Head Start and Bank Street's portfolio of public impact work. The College relies on DARO to provide fundraising and alumni support to these divisions.

Position Description: The Alumni Engagement Coordinator, a position within DARO, will play a vital role in fostering strong connections between current students, recent graduates, and the school's alumni community. The primary responsibility will be to develop and execute programs and initiatives that engage, support, and empower students and recent alumni throughout their academic journey and beyond. This position will be key in working with students and recent alumni to create and maintain lasting and meaningful traditions that are unique and specific to Bank Street graduates and their experiences as members of the Bank Street community.

This is a new full-time, 12-month hybrid position that will work in a collaborative environment and report directly to the Director of Alumni Relations. During the probationary period (90 days), this position will be required to work on-site for a minimum of three days per week with the potential to work no more than three days from home once successfully able to perform responsibilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Communications & Marketing

  • Utilize various communication channels to promote events, initiatives, and opportunities to both students and recent alumni, ensuring maximum participation
  • Assist with the creation of engagement and stewardship videos and materials
  • Strategize, administer, and expand social media outreach. Effective use of social media will be a critical component of this job
  • Research new digital marketing strategies and make recommendations to maximize impact
  • Interact with internal and external constituencies, including obtaining and coordinating needed information and proofreading
  • Monitor general email alumni inboxes and field general inquiries
Data Management
  • Maintain accurate records and databases of student and recent alumni engagement, tracking progress and evaluating the success of programs and outreach efforts
  • Assist DARO's operations team to ensure accurate and complete constituent records of alumni, including contact and biographical information found via correspondence, website, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.
  • Disseminate engagement surveys as needed
  • Generate queries and reports to be used to analyze program effectiveness
Event Management
  • Organize networking events and opportunities for students and recent alumni to connect with alumni in various fields, facilitating mentorship and career development opportunities
  • Direct and execute cohesive programming to engage current students and recent alumni (especially 0-5 years post-graduation), cultivating alumni loyalty with current students while emphasizing college and school pride
  • Organization of events, including the creation of event timelines, tracking progress and completion of tasks, coordinating and ordering supplies, maintaining guest lists and registrations, creating and managing event pages on the website and in Raiser's Edge, preparing collateral, and following up with participants and potential participants
  • Track expenses and manage vendor relationships
  • Input and manage event data in Raiser's Edge and Excel
Student Engagement
  • Responsible for the growth and management of student and alumni programs, with the primary goals of engaging constituents to develop a pipeline of future donors
  • Collaborate with Graduate School and School for Children departments to create events and activities that enhance student involvement and foster a sense of pride and loyalty towards Bank Street
  • Educate students about alumni services, on philanthropy and its impact, and inspire them to become advocates for Bank Street
  • Create a new student alumni ambassadors program designed to involve students in the field of institutional advancement and educate students on the value of alumni engagement, philanthropy education, and volunteer opportunities. Once created, this position will serve as primary advisor and administrator of this program
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison to any student-alumni outreach initiatives and/or programs
Recent Alumni Outreach
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with recent graduates, providing resources and support to help them transition into their careers successfully
  • Collaborate with departments such as Admissions, Career Services and Student Services on strategic programming, with the purpose of strengthening connections and participation from constituents
Volunteer Coordination
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate student and recent alumni volunteers to assist with events, projects, and outreach efforts such as the "Off to College Reunion" and "5-year Reunion"
  • Responsible for the engagement of Recent Alumni (1-10 years out) in all facets of Alumni Relations programming to foster their life-long relationship with Bank Street, including recruiting and managing the Class Delegates for alumni 1-10 years out
  • Serve as Alumni Relations liaison to the BSCAA Communications & Outreach Committee
General
  • Assist with and attend "all-hands on deck" events such as Alumni Weekend, Bank Street Celebration, Class Reunions, BSCAA meetings, special on-campus events/conferences, and volunteer leadership gatherings
  • Some evening hours and limited weekend work is required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or higher degree; 2-3 years working experience, preferably in communications, events, fundraising, marketing, alumni affairs, and/or in an education, higher education environment, or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to be creative, innovative, flexible, and decisive
  • Excellent project and event management skills, including keen attention to detail and ability to handle multiple deadlines, projects, changes in priorities, and schedules.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to articulate values, information, and compelling cases to multiple audiences, one-on-one and through formal presentations
  • Strong ability to work with and analyze data to inform strategies;
  • Strong experience using social media, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant software applications including Google apps, Microsoft Office, various email and fundraising platforms, and databases such as Raiser's Edge.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to work well in a team setting and also with volunteer committee members
  • Ability to work occasional late evenings and weekends as needed
