Job Description:

As part of the Integrated Marketing Team, the Associate Marketing Planner will support TD Bank's U.S. Consumer Lending businesses strategic planning and campaign executional needs delivering omni-channel, integrated marketing plans across the funnel to drive demand, acquire new customers, and cross-sell to the bank's existing customer base.

The Associate Marketing Planning Manager is accountable for the campaign oversight and project management for multiple products or overall segment. As a driver of moderate to complex projects, the Associate Marketing Planner Manager works independently to apply best practices to implement process, product, and service improvements that impact the business strategy and planning, as well as ensures that the TD brand is protected and delivered in the customer experience.

Reporting to the Senior Group Marketing Manager, incumbent will primarily lead and partner with key stakeholders to deliver large-scale U.S. Credit Card Acquisition efforts in owned and paid digital channels, but may also support programs in traditional channels or business lines (Residential Lending, Unsecured Personal Loans)

Depth & Scope:

  • Marketing advisor for a sub-set of a business, typically leading or contributing on projects of low to moderate scope and complexity

  • Expert level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge/expertise in own domain/field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas

  • Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area

  • Understands the industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization

  • Applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements

  • Acts as a subject matter expert within their own area of specialty or a resource for others

  • Leads projects of moderately to complex risks and resource requirements; may lead end-to-end processes or functional programs

  • Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise

  • Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders

  • Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards against which others will operate

  • Impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams

  • Interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels

  • Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels

  • Works independently and guides others within area of expertise

  • Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required

  • 5+ years relevant experience

  • Proficient knowledge of multiple marketing disciplines, strategy development, consulting principles, lines of businesses supported, banking industry, and product/customer markets

  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends

  • Knowledge of risk management environment, standards and regulations

  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget

  • Ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of initiatives

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form

  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships

  • Skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques

  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines

  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple external partners, agencies, and business lines to achieve campaign objectives and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated experience direct-to-consumer and/or paid digital marketing campaigns, including strategy, launch and post-implementation review

  • Experience building and presenting post-implementation readouts on performance

  • Experience with project management tools and visual dashboards (QuickBase and Jira a plus)

  • Experience operating in Pods/Agile environment (i.e. Scrum-Methodology)

  • Advanced proficiency with Excel (pivot tables and reporting, visuals, etc.) and PowerPoint

  • Thorough understanding of acquisition channels and funnel tactics

  • Strong relationship skills and ability to work across many different areas of the bank

  • Organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects

  • Experience writing creative briefs and interactions with/for internal and external agencies

  • Analytical thinker; experience building test-and-learn strategies

  • Team player; positive energy and attitude

Customer Accountabilities:

  • Creates integrated marketing campaigns that meet business and marketing strategies and objectives

  • Gathers, integrates and interprets existing views of the target audience, including demographic, attitudinal, and behavioral data to create campaign kick offs and briefs

  • Translates marketing objectives and consumer insights into communication strategy (benefit, offer, reason to believe RTB or proof points)

  • Creates or contributes to an inspiring creative brief for media and creative agencies, evaluates creative campaigns and media strategies based on their impact on customer behavior

  • Understands role of different media options and their impact on achieving marketing objectives, and oversees flawless execution of tactical media and creative plans

  • Leads/interfaces and contributes to cross-functional marketing teams to deliver all elements of campaigns including, targeted and channel marketing

  • Develops marketing strategies and plans; understands market and growth drivers, creates a vision of market, channel, and segment potential, develops value propositions and proof points that further our competitive advantage, and translates business strategies into marketing plans

  • Delivers and monitors results; ensures stated objectives are delivered on plan (monitor/early indicators) and where required, takes corrective actions to achieve targets

  • Analyzes past results and makes recommendations to maximize return on investment

  • Evaluates effectiveness of in market activity – Post Implementation Review (including recommendations)

  • Tells our Story – effectively communicates the results and sells the value of marketing

  • Utilizes the best practices to manage projects in the most effective way (on time, on target, on budget) from initiation to completion

  • Navigates through roadblocks by engaging key stakeholders/sponsors

  • Leads multi-functional teams through the project

  • Tracks and manages budget against plan, meeting all financial reporting requirements

  • Focuses and defines the problem to solve, engages resources across functional boundaries to gather data and insight, draws insight from data, making correlations and connections to deliver meaning from disparate sources of data

  • Uses data combined with judgement and intuition to make recommendations and drive action

  • Utilizes data to tell our story and make recommendations that are simple and concise

  • Builds innovative solutions; actively contributes to driving the spirit innovation among the team, brings external thinking/ideas to problems
