SPX Capital Management LLC Economist in New York, New York
Perform economic research concerning the U.S. and Canada, concentrating in activity, inflation, and labor market data. Build financial models to forecast U.S. growth and monitor recession risk, among other market conditions. Perform quantitative analysis of inflation at the sectoral level. Participate in the daily scenario/news update with other economists and portfolio managers. Assist in the production of weekly presentations. Respond to requests from portfolio managers in the production of comparative databases or data analysis.
Requirements: * Master's degree in economics. * Six months of experience in macroeconomic research. * Experience with time series econometrics and at least one statistical package or programing language (EViews, Stata, MATLAB, Python, or R). * Excel proficiency. * Familiarity with economic data and methodologies behind their production (GDP, employment, inflation, and fiscal accounts). * Understanding of different macroeconomic models and their implications (New Keynesian models, real business cycle models, and general equilibrium concepts).
