Description

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Administrative Assistant to join our team in New York, New York. This role is in the nonprofit industry and offers a contract employment opportunity. The successful candidate will provide employment services, ranging from job preparation to retention, for clients, partnering with them to obtain competitive employment opportunities in New York City.

Responsibilities:

• Offer individualized employment assistance to clients, encompassing interviewing techniques, résumé writing, job applications, and other employment services.

• Develop and nurture relationships with potential and existing employers.

• Support clients in exploring employment opportunities to secure and maintain gainful employment.

• Collaborate in the planning and execution of special events including job fairs.

• Refer clients to training programs based on client’s goals and experience.

• Ensure linkages with the New York State Department of Education, vocational training, and educational programs for clients.

• Recruit clients for on-site Computer Skills and Job Readiness Training Program.

• Provide one-on-one and group financial literacy sessions and wealth creation workshops to promote financial independence.

• Document all client work in confidential electronic record.

• Commit to using evidence-based practices, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, family-centered case management, and boundary setting.

• Attend meetings and staff training as directed by the manager.

• Collaborate with all transitional housing departments to ensure that income building goals, metrics, and best practices are met.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year experience in the nonprofit sector

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Ability to schedule appointments effectively.

• Proven experience with data entry tasks.

• Must have experience in handling email correspondence.

• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work effectively.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
