Wolters Kluwer Principal Technology Program Manager in New York, New York

The Principal Technology Program Manager is accountable for planning and allocating resources, work with finance team on budgets, monitoring, tracking, and management of delivery progress, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the program lifecycle. (S)he will bring to this organization thought leadership and vision in leading multi-year programs to successful execution, and provide financial oversight, and managing partner relationships.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Engagement

  • Support PMO team in creating and implementing a portfolio view and alignment with GBS IT stakeholders, business units, and partners.

  • Create and deliver compelling PMO presentations for WK executives, other senior leaders, and customers.

  • Facilitate the tracking and reporting on divisional and business units’ metrics, results, for programs under his/her supervision, and calculates data into meaningful insights and reports.

  • Manage the development, maintenance, and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Strategic Program Management

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget

  • Work closely with engineering, product, operations, and other teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of technology transformation projects with overall business objectives

  • Identify potential risks, dependencies, and roadblocks in the technology transformation projects. Implement mitigation plans and escalate critical issues to senior management when necessary

  • Monitor project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and track expenses to ensure financial objectives are met.

  • Establish quality standards and review mechanisms to ensure that the technology transformation projects meet the required performance, security, and reliability criteria

  • Collaborate with finance teams to provide accurate and timely financial reporting related to cloud migration projects. Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and analyze financial data to support decision-making.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements, expectations, and concerns. Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and effectively communicate project progress, status, and outcomes.

  • Build trusted relationships with internal and external (GBS, Divisions/BU) stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Interface with GBS IT PMO demand and intake process for GBS IT and divisions.

Resource Management

  • Working with functional leaders ensure resource availability and allocation to required projects to reach objectives and help the functional leaders in managing resources in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Oversee optimization of resource pools (project-based versus dedicated role based) and how it aligns to PMO needs.

  • Manage ClickTime data tracking and developing meaningful actionable reports, as needed.

  • Assist in the development of business cases while working with the associated leaders.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Senior executive presentation and communication skills

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to project management

  • Proven track record of collaborating with infrastructure service providers, carriers, and vendors to design and implement infrastructure transformation projects.

  • Familiarity with negotiating contracts, managing service level agreements (SLAs), and maintaining strong partnerships with external providers

  • A solid understanding of cloud-based infrastructure, including public cloud services.

  • Proven experience integrating on-premises networks with cloud environments and optimizing connectivity for cloud-based applications and services, is preferred

  • Familiarity with Lean and agile development processes

  • Executive level written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence.

  • Communicate complex problems to other people in a simple way that they will understand and work together to alleviate the general IT risk.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with and manage relationships with all levels of employees and leaders throughout the Company. Demonstrated ability to get positive results through influence, persuasion, leadership, presentations, training, and group facilitation skills. Ability to balance organizational short-term and long-term objectives.

  • Maintain continuous improvement mindset to improve PMO strategy while taking feedback from customers/leaders. Proactively seek opportunities to provide additional value to PMO internal customers.

  • Represent Wolters Kluwer within the industry by developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of Wolters Kluwer products, industry trends and general business and financial acumen through various sources and initiative. Communicate Wolters Kluwer competitive advantage to customers in a compelling articulate manner in speech, writing and formal presentation.

Job Qualifications

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology

Required Experience:

  • 10-15 years-of demonstrated progressive experience in IT, Program management, resource management, change and transformation management

  • 5+ years’ experience with shared services model

  • 5+ years management, enterprise-wide transition and/or transformation programs

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive way to managing work. Able to deliver with limited oversight and take accountability of actions.

  • Excellent presentation skills, both creating slides and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences.

  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practicesStrong interpersonal skills and extremely resourcefulExperience seeing projects through the full life cycle.

  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.

  • Excellent analytical skillsProven ability to solve problems creatively.

Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with agile methodologies is advantageous Project Management Professional (PMP) certificationProven ability to solve problems creatively.

  • CSM (Certified Scrum Master)

  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practicesExperience seeing projects through the full life cycle.

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful

  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.

Preferred experience in 1 or more of the following Program Management portfolios:

  • DevSecOps (Development, security , operations) Programs

  • GIS ( Global Information Security ) Programs

  • DCC ( Data Center Consolidation) Programs

  • J2C (Journey To Cloud ( Azure and AWS Programs)

Preferred Skills

  • Presentation skills for leadership Steerco meetings

  • Stakeholders management skills in an Agile environment

Travel requirements

  • Minimum Travel required for this position is 50%

  • Ability to work on site in our NY office

  • On occasions work during Weekends and Non-business Hours.

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $176,600-$249,950
