The US Lending Product LFO team provides strategic and financial analysis to help develop the right products, lending capabilities, and customer treatments that grow our share of spend and lend in the marketplace. We achieve this goal through a broad set of activities, such as deep financial analysis of our existing cardmember base; analysis of the industry and specific competitors; and detailed financial sizing of new card products, product refreshes, lending capabilities, acquisition offers, or customer treatments. We rely on strong cross-functional collaboration with the product, marketing, pricing, risk, and finance teams for the US Consumer Services business. This is a high visibility role with a focus on some of the most important initiatives in one of the largest segments of American Express.

This key role provides Product LFO decision support to the US Consumer Product team across Personal Loans, Cashback products, Legacy portfolio, and Alternative Lending. The candidate will lead forecasting of Personal Loans AR and interest income as well as perform analytics to unlock financial insights around delivering on our Non-Card and Card profitability and growth goals.

How will you make an impact in this role?

  • Lead forecasting of Personal Loans AR and interest income

  • Create financial analyses for initiatives such as product refreshes, new lending capabilities, strategic growth initiatives, and profitability analyses of the portfolio

  • Quickly and accurately model the financial outcomes of key cardmember behaviors using large account-level data sets

  • Proactively work with business partners and finance leadership to identify critical business questions and frame analyses accordingly

  • Develop actionable recommendations on strategic questions at hand, effectively communicate complex ideas, and actively seek to drive the strategy of the business

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with partners in Product, Marketing, Risk, Pricing, Finance and other functions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required and 1-3 years of relevant work experience

  • High level of proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to articulate complex ideas with brevity, simplicity and impact

  • Flexibility to effectively function in a fast-paced environment, high energy team player

  • Excellent communication skills with an innate ability to interact at all levels of the organization

  • Confidence to ask questions, develop a point of view, and voice an opinion in meetings with senior executives

  • Motivated self-starter able to operate on multiple, confidential, diverse fronts simultaneously, with attention to detail

  • Natural strategic mindset or “business intuition” – ability to step back from the numbers and consider the analysis from multiple points of view, decision analysis and support skillset required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL and/or SAS preferred

  • Strong understanding of card economics, with an emphasis on lending dynamics

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
