McGraw-Hill Education product developers are engaged in the creation and delivery of engaging, efficient, and effective digital learning experiences and validated assessments for courses in higher education. Product developers oversee content quality by developing, editing, concepts, and shaping intellectual property for print and digital delivery while serving as point person for coordinating the efforts of authors, contributors/SMEs, and production & digital platform teams. At the very core, product developers transform good content into great content and successful learning experiences-the beating heart of McGraw-Hill's 120-year tradition for developing high-quality course materials.

Your impact on the team

Senior Product developers possess strong competencies for building higher education content; deep development acumen, content management expertise; and powerful communication skills. Some have instructional technology expertise or instructional design backgrounds; others possess an advanced degree in their field.

Product developers possess a mastery of multiple authoring environments for the creation of long-form reading experiences, adaptive content, formative assessments, and immersive digital activities. They are crucial players in every step of the content journey.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. It requires up to 10% occasional travel for the year.

What you will be doing:

  • Informed by the tenets of learning science and instructional design, collaborate with learning experience designers, business product managers, CDD colleagues, subject matter experts, vendors, and others across the organization to design and develop well-constructed learning experiences that solve critical market problems, are of the highest caliber, and meet accuracy and accessibility standards.
  • Lead strategic development on the portfolio's most innovative, high-growth projects within aggressive timeframes that require the ability to continually prioritize changing project tasks/deliverables and meet deadlines.
  • Participate in market development and research across assigned projects to achieve profound understanding of our customers and to discover, validate, and ensure our products address urgent and pervasive market problems.
  • Transform content into value-added experiences that meet learning outcomes and exceed customer expectations.
  • Work collaboratively across functional areas to identify solutions and problem-solve; ensure products are brought to market in scope, on time and on budget per the product plan. Develop a deep knowledge of and demonstrate the ability to train others on proprietary learning tool platforms, content engines and authoring environments within the McGraw-Hill Education ecosystem.
  • Partner closely with Portfolio Managers and team to help execute the overall digital strategy.
  • Monitor trends, identify opportunities, and explore innovative solutions to teaching and learning problems in specific discipline areas.
  • Demonstrate active leadership in the content development realm, including but not limited to leading specific operational initiatives, coaching others on new product models or processes, and innovating a tool or approach to content portfolio.
  • Contextualize and tailor learning experience design guidelines and recommendations for specific portfolio needs in their relative course areas.
  • Take a leadership role in coaching and mentoring others both within the development functional role and across other organizational roles such as CDD and sales

We're looking for someone with:

  • Bachelor's Degree; related advanced coursework or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Three plus years' experience in product management and product development.
  • Experience managing digital product development.
  • Proficient in digital product development.
  • Familiar with web-based systems and tools, database management tools, authoring tools and platform functionality in order to help drive digital product development
  • Strong program management skills, including budget and scheduling.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Confident, objective, analytical, inquisitive, ability to lead and mentor product development team.
  • Must have proven ability to influence and negotiate across functional teams.
  • Display practical business sense, fiscal skills, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success with managing complex digital product lines with major revenue responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate vision and understand the big picture, but also has the ability to understand and communicate very detailed information on requirements, product line features and the market to various audiences.

The pay range for this position is between $49,000 - $70,000 annually, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. An annual bonus plan is provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
