New York Blood Center Technologist - Cellular Therapy in New York, New York
New York Blood Center seeks Technologist - Cellular Therapy (New York, NY) to perform technical procedures involved in the operation of the Cellular Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Laboratories. Procedures include but are not limited to volume and red blood cell reduction, cryopreservation of viable cells for transplantation, and manufacture cellular therapy products in the clean room as necessary. Processes and cryopreserves hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC), parathyroid tissue and other cellular therapy products as developed in the laboratory for transplantation. Complies with all policies, practices, procedures, SOPs and other applicable regulations, requirements and standards. Conducts routine cell enumeration as required by hematology lab. Performs daily quality control on all equipment prior to use and reports any malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff, and conducts routine preventative maintenance as required. Maintains patient records in paper records and also computerized systems. Performs moderately complex laboratory tests which includes proficiency tests and preparation of product and patient samples for testing in other laboratories. Documents deviations and occurrences and notifies appropriate staff. Prepares inventory and donor qualification reports. 5% of domestic travel required. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related technical field and minimum 1 year of experience in job offered or closely related occupation. Requires 1 year experience in a clinical or biomedical laboratory including experience in a blood banking, stem cell or cellular therapy lab. NY State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or NYS Stem Cell Restricted License required.SALARY:$48,942/yr.
