Mizuho Corporate Bank AVP Credit Analyst - Japanese Corporates in New York, United States

About the Team:

The Americas Risk Management (ARM) Credit Risk Team is responsible for reviewing and approving select transaction approvals and ongoing monitoring documentation for the Americas Corporate Banking Department #1 (ACBD1).

Summary:

You are open to new skills and potentially new industries. You have the capacity to serve as a linchpin between key stakeholders in ARM and ACBD1. You also have corporate industry knowledge and a general understanding of U.S. Regulatory Ratings is key to making accurate recommendations to senior management.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Reviews / assesses credit and rating applications, including creditworthiness of relevant obligors, financial performance, industry / peer analysis, loan structure, and risk / return.

  • Presents requests for regulatory rating and local booking approval recommendations to senior management.

  • Proactively monitors assigned portfolio with consideration to market data

  • Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory expectations, specifically leveraged lending.

  • Acts as liaison between, gathers information from and exchanges views with ACBD1 and senior management regarding issues related to rating applications, monitoring, analysis, standards and policies.

    Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Business, Finance / Economics or strong quantitative background

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Banking or Credit Risk-like role

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze the creditworthiness of a borrower and its financial performance

  • Clear understanding of Probability of Default and Regulatory Ratings

  • Formalized credit training from an accredited financial institution and proficient financial modeling skills preferred

  • Familiarity with Technology, Media/ Telecom, Consumer, Auto and Healthcare industries is a plus

  • Strong multitasking / time management skills and verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency with Capital IQ, Bloomberg, MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Bi-lingual in English and Japanese is a plus but not required

    The expected base salary ranges from $90,000 - $140,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
