New York University [Music Technology] Adjunct Faculty - Distributed Performance in New York

• NYU Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions (MPAP) Music Technology Program seeks qualified candidates to teach in the following fields:

Distributed Performance (Graduate Level)

Summary:

The course will explore the technology used in the collaborative process in performing arts in a context of creating interactive performances distributed between multiple sites. Students examine audio and video technology, improvisation, scheduling tools and other factors that must be addressed in creating and implementing distributed performances using synchronous and asynchronous communication, performance, and production media to establish online performances.

You must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States, NYU is not an E-verified employer. Compensation is in accordance with NYU’s bargaining agreement with ACT-UAW Local 7902.

It is a rolling deadline. Nevertheless, we immediately need an instructor for Spring 2024 semester. If you are available to teach in the Spring 2024 semester, please submit your application as late as December 20th, 2023. (Earlier is better.)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Masters or PhD degree in a field related to music, music technology and audio/visual performances.

  • Extended experience with Audio and Video Streaming technologies including Jacktrip.

  • Teaching Experience at the college level

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience and significant achievement in the field

  • Teaching experience at the Graduate level in audio engineering or signal processing
