What to expect:

Formulates and directs the high-level strategy as it relates to the planning, development, validation, implementation and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations for new and existing products to enhance the BSH organization’s manufacturing capabilities. This objective is achieved by utilizing the talents of a team of manufacturing engineers to help develop, design and optimize complex manufacturing processes and is responsible for selecting, developing and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operation of the manufacturing engineering function. This role also acts as liaison with R&D and Advanced Operations in releasing new products to the manufacturing operation.

Participates with other senior managers within the BSH division to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters with the manufacturing engineering organization and ensures effective achievement of departmental objectives. Directs and controls the activities of the manufacturing engineering organization through several leaders within the team across one, or more, manufacturing locations.

Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

  • Partners with divisional leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying technical expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.

  • Responsible for communicating the purpose, direction and strategic importance of organizational goals, setting expectations, developing metrics to measure team performance and implementing strategies to meet project and departmental objectives.

  • Accountable for all aspects of manufacturing engineering activities and projects within B&SH and ensures that expert technical guidance and support is provided to the organization.

  • Responsible for recruiting, retaining and managing multiple direct reports including managers and/or supervisors.

  • Responsible for performance management, facilitating employee development, mentoring and coaching to maximize engagement and productivity.

  • Accountable for the development and implementation of policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the organization.

  • Directs and participates in engineering studies to evaluate processes and/or equipment necessary to drive process efficiencies through continuous improvement efforts.

  • Develops and implements long-term strategy on manufacturing capability and capacity for new and existing products.

  • Develops strategy for capital deployment and is accountable for end-to-end success of capital projects, in support of manufacturing operations.

  • Works with production leadership and associates to develop process documentation (SOPs) and provides process and equipment-specific training for new and existing manufacturing processes as needed.

  • Coordinates process changes requiring capital expenditures with Equipment Engineering as needed.

  • Drive compliance-based culture, ensure timely and effective investigation and root cause identification and resolution of manufacturing non-conformances and corrective preventative action plans (CAPA).

  • Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement throughout the organization. Captures and communicates lessons learned. Champions opportunities to implement new tools, technologies and methods to improve organizational processes.

  • Establish a strong network and cross functional collaboration within the organization.

  • Determine financial objectives for manufacturing engineering department and monitor financial metrics to support budgetary planning.

  • Participate in NPI projects and drive successful introduction of new products and production concepts from design phase to volume production.

Education & Experience:

  • Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: BA/BS Degree

  • Preferred Minimum Technical/Advanced Degree: Master’s Degree

  • Preferred Minimum Non-Technical Degree: 12 + Years

  • Preferred Minimum Technical/Advanced Degree: 10 + Years with Master’s Degree, 8 + Years with PhD

  • Experience in a highly regulated environment (ISO or FDA preferred) is beneficial.

  • Experience with Oracle ERP system or Agile Product Lifecycle Management system is beneficial.

  • Experience in both Operations and R&D is beneficial.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a high-performing, motivated and engaged team.

  • Strong financial skills and ability to analyze and use financial data.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and SolidWorks

  • PMP Certification is beneficial

  • Lean-Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification is beneficial

The annualized base salary range for this role is $162,600 to $288,900 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
