    Work Location:  This role is onsite in Newark, New Jersey, with local travel to other locations in Northern, NJ for presentations and meetings (resource will be reimbursed for travel to sites). Ability to work one day per week remotely.

    Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to a Principal Investigator (who is a Medical Director), this resource will support Healthcare Professionals who are providing Care and Medication Management in Opioid Clinics and Treatment Centers, in and around the Northern New Jersey area.

  • Increase access to medication-assisted treatment and recovery support services for individuals with substance use disorders by providing mentorship, technical assistance, and conducting training sessions for medical providers and healthcare stakeholders to enhance their understanding of pharmaceutical products and evidence-based treatment strategies.

  • This position combines clinical pharmacy expertise with educational skills to enhance the quality of patient care and promote evidence-based practices in Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD).

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safe and effective use of medications, promotion of MOUD, and other evidence-based strategies for substance use disorders.

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with medical providers. Offer guidance and support through one-on-one sessions, providing both technical and clinical guidance.

  • Assist healthcare professionals in resolving medication-related challenges pertaining to substance use disorder management. Provide medication management advice, treating people with addiction with evidence-based treatment.

  • Collect and analyze data related to medication utilization, adherence, and outcomes. Use this information to tailor educational interventions and improve patient care.

  • Maintain accurate records of academic detailing interactions, outcomes, and educational materials. Generate reports to track progress and assess the impact of interventions.

    Required Skills:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution.

  • Background in working with individuals with opioid use disorder.

  • Knowledge of prescribing medication; advising medication management, treating people with addiction with evidence-based treatment.

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills - able to translate medical and Neurobiology into layman’s terms.  Ability to engage and educate healthcare professionals effectively.

  • Must be a team player.  The current team is multi-disciplinary. 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Very comfortable and confident (but not combative) interacting with the team in the clinic, including peer navigators and nurse clinicians. 

  • NOTE:  Work environment includes both office-based services, hospital-based settings and community outreach. Individual wellness checks and crisis intervention required. Subject to unpredictable situations, patient crises, including behavioral, medical and psychiatric crisis.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Experience in academic detailing and/or conducting health education training is a plus.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, visual perception and hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to twenty-five (25) pounds.  Ability to travel to local sites in Newark NJ and surrounding areas in Northern NJ.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: Vitalief partners with clients such as major medical centers and academic institutions that often requires all on-site resources such as prospective Vitalief consultants to be inoculated annually for Influenza and successfully pass a Mantoux Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) for Mycobacterium Tuberculosis.
