SUMMARY:
Directs the application of demand forecasts, and presents recommendations relating to key investment decisions, including rolling stock, station capacity, park/ride initiatives and new system configurations.
Evaluates key policies and recommends strategies for managing ridership demand.
Evaluates and prepares recommendations for service, fare, revenue and costs related to major projects.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Directs and performs development of ridership analysis and associated reporting.
Supports the development of major transit investment projects and the preparation of planning studies, environmental documents, and alternatives development through ridership analysis and forecasting.
Conducts and directly supervises staff to produce ridership forecasts for facilities and services.
Directs the conceptual approach for systems planning studies, and coordinates with other project efforts. Uses computerized transportation modeling techniques, and manages the production, coordination and presentation of the findings.
Directs demand modeling alternatives, selection of demand modeling strategies, development of trip generation, trip distribution, assignment and mode split models for NJ TRANSIT.
Directs development, coordination, application, maintenance, and presentation of the long-range regional economic and travel forecasts.
This position supervises a Senior Research and Forecasting Analyst.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Business Administration or related area and three (3) years of progressive experience in transportation planning, econometrics, transportation demand forecasting, market research or related areas.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Experience using computerized transportation demand models required.
