Roles & Responsibilities:

Inventory Planning

  • Ensures that inventory is planned to adjust to changing user demands, preventative and routine maintenance to achieve an outcome of optimized material levels with appropriate safety stock and zero material outages.

  • Executes perpetual inventory system activity, adding and modifying data against the inventory corporate item master.

  • Coaches or performs material planning team activities.

  • Management of system generated purchase requisitions and replenishment parameters of stock items to ensure inventoried supplies are purchased, delivered, received, put away and available when required.

  • Compiles and analyses statistical data regarding inventories, minimum order quantity and lead times to better align supply with demand. Reviews inventory consumption and recommends reorders levels.

  • Expediting of past due orders, resolve order discrepancies and delivery issues to ensure parts and supplies are available when required.

  • Inter-department collaboration regarding maintenance requirements, component failure analysis, demand usage, and system changes to update requirements and facilitate replenishment cycles.

  • Supports and advises procurement and warehouse staff on manual and automated replenishment.

  • User training in inventory control and system maintenance to ensure they have a working knowledge of the inventory system and all the functions pertaining to warehousing.

  • Plans and leads weekly inventory meetings with Surface Transit or Rail, procurement, and engineering to resolve material outages, vendor performance and supply chain delivery issues.

  • Works with management to develop future-year planning with Operating departments and Subject Matter Experts for inventory purposes.

Asset Disposal

  • Oversees and executes asset disposal to optimize resource allocation.

Reporting

  • Prepares, monitors, and distributes periodic status reports summarizing and analyzing inventory usage, open material requests, purchase order detail and cycle count adjustments.

Leadership

  • Reviews, corrects, and provides feedback on the work of the team.

  • Collaborates with and advises colleagues on a regular basis to continuously improve the Procurement & Logistics Department.

Systems of Record

  • Performs all duties within the currently approved systems of record and properly maintains documents in conformance with document control policies.

  • Provides feedback and input on planned or new systems.

Training

  • Remain current on all required training.

  • Create a development plan for your career.

  • Seeks out and gains training to increase proficiency in material planning, material management, material procurement, or other appropriate topics.

Other Responsibilities

  • Plans, tracks, reports on work activities with the end result being professional, transparent, efficient execution of duties.

  • Collaborates with customers and client departments.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Material Planning Leadership

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and 6 years of related experience any combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Masters degree, Professional License, or Certification preferred.

  • The degree(s) must be in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business, Public Administration, Law, Engineering, Economics, IT or related degree area.

  • Experience in materials management required and experience in using a perpetual inventory system, (i.e., inventory, purchasing shipping/receiving and accounts payable files/relationships) and manipulating data in Access and Excel preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technology – Must be able to work proficiently in the following Systems of Record: ECMS, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Access Databases, Excel Spreadsheets, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams), Adobe, Oracle ERP, Kronos and other systems in use or under development. Systems may change over time.

  • Must be able to understand active listening and have excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Must be able to develop and deliver professional presentations.

Leadership

  • A demonstrated track record of interacting with leadership and coaching other professionals is required.

  • A demonstrated track record of implementing strategic solutions that advance the interests of the enterprise.

Planning

  • Must be able to adhere to KPIs.

  • Must be able to identify and understand trends in data and adjust actions accordingly.

  • Must understand the technical requirements of buses, trains, and their parts.
