Weston County Health Services Patient Account Representative in Newcastle, Wyoming
As the Patient Account Representative (PAR) - Biller, this position is responsible for submitting medical claims to Medicare and Medicaid, experience is preferred, but not required. This position is an integral part of the revenue cycle team and requires attention to detail and experience with using multiple computer software systems. The Medicare/Medicaid biller is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software including electronic and paper claim processing. Following up on unpaid claims, researching and appealing denials.
Essential Functions:
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS).
- Obtains referrals and pre-authorizations as required.
- Checks eligibility and benefits verifications for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
- Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Follows up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frame.
- Works with insurance companies regarding any discrepancies in payments if necessary.
- Ensures each insurance payment is accurate and compliant.
- Maintains records as required.
- Has the ability to deal effectively with patients and co-workers.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure efficiency.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.
- Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines.
- Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community.
- Maintains a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner.
- Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Always introduces self to patients, residents, families, and visitors when appropriate.
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
- Replenishes supplies as needed.
