Camp Counselor

Big Canyon Country Club is currently looking for Camp Counselors who, under the direction of the Youth Activities Supervisor, will help assist, lead, and monitor a variety of exciting activities throughout the 2024 summer program.

Summer Camp begins on June 17th and runs through August 23rd, Monday through Friday. New Hire Orientation is May 18th, 2024. Shifts vary between 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Please keep in mind some night, weekend, and holiday shifts will be required throughout the summer and we are looking for individuals who will be able to work the full 10 weeks.

Duties & Expectations

  • Greet parents and children during check-in when they arrive.

  • Supervise and facilitate children’s activities. Be creative, energetic, and lead structured games while always ensuring general safety.

  • Attend to any individual needs of the children i.e. bathroom use, changing clothes, injuries.

  • Support the Youth Activities Supervisor in establishing rules and emergency procedures with the campers.

  • Ability to problem solve and communicate information to the Youth Activities Supervisor .

  • Clean up the camp area at the end of the day and collect all lost and found items.

  • Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager

    Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Previous experience as a camper or counselor is desirable, however, experience working with children is required.

  • Must have excellent communication skills and take direction.

  • Some light lifting and carrying of children as well as pushing/pulling objects.

  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time.

  • Occasionally bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above the shoulder.

  • Participating in various recreational activities.

  • Must be able to swim.

  • There will be Indoor/outdoor facilities, swimming pools, and exposure to the sun.

  • Special skills such as being proficient and able to teach a particular sport and/or ability to play and share a musical instrument and/or skill or originality in crafts will be advantageous.

  • First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification is desired.

  • Possess a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with all departments and members
