Description

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the development and leadership of a highly technical and rapidly evolving engineering team. You will help drive the evolution and transition of our solutions to platforms, ensuring its usability, reliability, and scalability. This role is crucial to the successful delivery of UKG’s products and services and positively impact the experience of many engineers within the organization. The ideal candidate will have proven record of effectively leading a platform engineering team, experience working in public cloud, and a deep technical understanding of the CI/CD engineering tooling and practices.

• Platform Development: Lead design, development, and maintenance of our solutions and platforms, ensuring usability, reliability, and scalability.

• Automation Leadership: Lead design and implementation of automation for .Net application CI/CD and validation. Drive innovative way to resolve fairly complex business problems.

• Team Leadership: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team with a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence. Develop team objectives and Ensure team members have the necessary resources and support to excel in their roles.

• Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively across teams, including product management, security, and cloud operations, to plan and execute against the roadmap. Regularly influences Senior Leadership and stakeholders across engineering and cloud.

• Technology Trends: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best-practices in CI/CD and platform engineering.

• Empathy and Customer Management: Maintain engagement with the developer community to understand their feedback, demonstrate empathy and measure success.

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership to the team, drawing on practical experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and Configuration as Code (CaC).

• Skill Building and Enablement: Enhance skill acquisition and enablement across the team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in platform engineering, with at least 5+ years in leadership roles.

• Extensive software engineering development and design experience with complex and highly scalable products using multiple technologies, platforms, and languages.

• Working experience with CI/CD pipeline and tooling (e.g., GitHub, Terraform, Ansible)

• Strong background in .NET and public cloud, ideally GCP.

• Working experience with scripting languages, ideally Ruby or Python.

• Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices.

• Excellent organizational skills.

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Experience with agile development methodologies.

• Experience working in a globally distributed environment.

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
