Working with the Norfolk County Council Better Parking Strategy Manager to deliver of a countywide programme of Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) schemes. Our long-term contract with Norfolk County Council started in 2014 and has proved to be successful, with WSP securing the maximum extension to see the contract through until 2026. This collaborative approach of technical excellence from WSP, combined with Norfolk County Councils enviable record of securing project funding provides an opportunity to be part of some exciting and diverse opportunities.

  • Reviewing detailed engineer drawings for TROs advising on appropriate signing and lining.

  • Demonstrable experience in drafting and making all types of TROs, managing and processing to a legally required standard. Ensuring the council’s statutory obligations are met and TROs are prepared in accordance with the relevant Acts of Parliament, legislation and council policy and procedures.

  • Providing advice as to the processes required for implementation of any TRO.

  • Experience running statutory public consultations and liaising with key stakeholders.

  • Responsible for researching any background and keeping abreast of latest legislation and providing advice on good practice relating to the TRO process.

  • Able to converse with members of the public and provide accurate advice in spoken and written formats.

  • Able to work flexibly and under your own initiative, seeking advice where necessary.

  • Good organisational skills and able to meet deadlines, working well under pressure in a busy and demanding environment.

  • Able to work well in a team environment and develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.

Experience of working in a highway’s environment including a strong knowledge of relevant highway law including:

  • Highways Act 1980

  • Local Authorities Traffic Order Procedure Regulations 1996

  • Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

  • Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016

  • Traffic Signs Manuals, Regulatory Signs and Road Markings
