ManTech Habitability Specialist in Norfolk, Virginia

ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Ship’s System Analyst – Habitability Specialist to join our team in Norfolk, VA

Summary:

This position will be overall responsible for the scoping, preparing, development, validation, implementation, and life cycle maintenance of Habitability systems and equipment for Carrier readiness and Modernization. Responsible for assigned efforts on US Navy Carrier, Nuclear (CVN) ships.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participate in meetings/conferences to provide recommendations and insight concerning CVN habitability readiness

  • Assist in the management of the Shipboard Habitability Program, coordinating efforts affecting shipboard quality of life

  • Review the ship’s maintenance, modernization, and repairs for CNO availabilities and maintenance upkeeps to identify issues affecting shipboard habitability

  • Provide ongoing inspections and review of aircraft carrier assessment reporting practices and methodology to identify areas for improvement

  • Assist, inspect, and monitor quality of life and/or habitability policy for COMNAVAIRLANT ships by maintaining familiarity with current shipboard living conditions and issues through ship and site visits

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ten (10) years of experience of direct involvement with implementing various habitability programs

  • Ten (10) years working knowledge of Naval Aircraft Carrier references and standards per Naval Instruction requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience in fluent use of Microsoft Office Products

  • Experience working with naval shipboard personnel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral skills to communicate effectively with senior command levels (GS-15, O-6, and Flag/SES).

  • Ten (10) years of experience classifying aircraft carrier readiness as it pertains to habitability program objectives.

  • Ten (10) years of experience inspecting and evaluating current and new habitability systems.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active Secret Security Clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to get underway on CVNs, as well as climb vertical ladders and take stairs.

  • The person must be able to carry up to 50 pounds of gear, potentially for longer distances (up to 1/2 mile) when embarking on a ship.

  • Manipulate standard office equipment, Computer, Files, Fax Machine. etc..
