Job Summary

The Recruiter, Academic Advisor and Academic Coach for Non-traditional students position in the Department of Special Education will primarily serve students in off-campus or online initial teacher licensure programs in the Department of Special Education. The person in this role will ensure a smooth transition from pre-admission to matriculation for non-traditional students in the Para-Professional Unlocking Licensure in Special Education (PULSE) program and any other program geared towards non-traditional students. The person in this role will support students through the transition to enrollment, serve as their academic advisor, and implement strategies to increase their success once enrolled through academic coaching. This position will require extensive collaboration with school districts, faculty and other staff in the department and comprehensive knowledge of Illinois State policies and procedures. The person in this role will also travel to high schools/community colleges/community agencies for recruitment events and be available at nights and weekends.\ Additional responsibilities will include being a part of the advising team in the department of special education and support advisors with overflow of students interested in a minor in special education.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package

Preferred Qualifications

1. Masters Degree\ 2. Bilingual (Spanish)

Work Hours

Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:\ 1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods\ 2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work\ 3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
