Boeing Commercial Airplanes' (BCA) 787 Airframe Structures team is seeking an Engineering Manager (Level K) to join our Fuselage Life Cycle Product Team (LCPT) group in North Charleston, South Carolina.

As an Engineering Manager, you will manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering. The primary statement of work for you will be Stress Liaison for the Boeing South Carolina site and 787 Program.

The position requires a candidate with a servant leadership mindset who excels in communication and collaboration, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. This leadership role focuses on mentoring and coaching teammates, establishing positive working relationships, and promoting a culture of engineering excellence and safety. As an ideal leader, you will leverage engineering judgment to guide teams towards efficient and effective solutions that meet both product safety and business objectives, oversee cross-functional teams in assessing and resolving complex product and process issues throughout the product lifecycle, and manage a wide variety of concurrent work statements, including both long-term and short-term assignments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes business plans, policies and procedures.

  • Develops organizational and technical strategies.

  • Acquires resources, provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes for airframe structures.

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

  • Mentors and develops team member's technical and leadership capabilities.

  • Brings a positive and proactive leadership mindset to motivate team members and maintain healthy work atmosphere.

  • Helps facilitate daily team stand ups utilizing LEAN best practices.

  • Proactive collaboration with customers and support organizations, build positive relationships. (i.e. LE, Prod. Engineering, Operations, Fleet Support teams)

  • Manages daily team priorities to effectively utilize team resources

  • Effective communication with lead engineers, management and team members.

  • Establishes clear RAA for lead engineers, foster and develop lead pipeline.

  • Supports hiring of engineering team.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • ABET engineering degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

  • Experience leading a team, formally or informally.

  • 5+ years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Structures Engineering and/or Liaison Engineering.

  • Experience in BCA factory and fleet support.

  • Knowledge of composite design and analysis techniques.

  • Knowledge of static, fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.

  • General Knowledge Operationalize Productivity & Delivery (OPD) Best Practices.

  • Knowledge of airframe design and manufacturing methods.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $130,050 - $175,950
