Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

MSTS is seeking a highly qualified quality assurance professional to fill the role of a Senior Principal Quality Assurance Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialized expert knowledge to solve complex quality assurance problems across multiple organizations in support of nuclear facility operations.

  • Integrate and coordinate a team of qualified personnel to provide support to other organizations and ensure that activities comply with laws, codes, orders, and policies and procedures.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to both internal and external parties.

  • Provide cross-disciplinary integration and implementation of corporate quality programs.

  • Serve as an organizational resource and advisor to the organizational team and an advisor to senior management on project status and issues related to nuclear facility quality.

  • Plan, direct, lead, or perform independent assessments and surveillances using quality technical standards and practices to ensure process control and compliance.

  • Develop long range plans and needs in the areas of quality assurance to support new or proposed future missions.

  • Promote team member development through mentoring, guiding, training, and coaching to ensure staff are appropriately trained and meet appropriate qualifications.

  • Communicate with senior managers, peers, and subordinates in the organization and with other company organizational units on matters related to quality.

  • Lead planning activities, developing proposals or deliverables that are effective and provided within schedule.

  • Consult with senior line organization managers on quality matters to ensure that procedures and work practices comply with quality programs and governmental requirements.

  • Provide training, mentoring, and technical guidance to less experienced quality assurance (QA) personnel to assist and ensure they complete their required qualifications.

  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Technical field related to the position or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in System Engineering/Design Engineering preferred.

  • Familiarity with DOE authorization basis and nuclear safety requirements.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with Department of Energy nuclear quality related standards, policies, and operations.

  • Should have an understanding working knowledge of DOE authorization basis and nuclear safety requirements.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, the ability to work under minimal supervision, ability to multi-task; and be highly organized to guide a quality and safety team through a fast-paced, changing, technical work environment.

  • Should possess advanced computer skills necessary to navigate through the corporate software suite.

  • Demonstrated technical writing ability to compose clear technical correspondence, reports, and other internal communication.

  • Be able to utilize independent judgment, creativity, initiative, and ability within area of control to apply knowledge and experience to resolve problems and accomplish goals where established procedures may not exist.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and teaming skills and the ability to deal with people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner while maintaining confidentiality.

  • Ability to direct a team in the performance of organizational support for quality and safety.

  • Ability to implement quality and safety programs in a fast-paced technical environment.

  • Ability to support quality or safety procedure and process development and a background in supply chain activities are desirable.

  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).

  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

    Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

    Annual salary range for this position is:$140,316.80 - $217,484.80.

    Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
