ITW Staff Accountant in Norwood, Massachusetts

This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the accounting department for Instron, North America. Specifically, this position is responsible for preparing and posting multiple journal entries, Payroll, assisting in Month End close process as well as supporting AP and/or AR functions.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the Month End Close process by preparing journal entries and reconciling assigned General Ledger Accounts including accruals, fixed assets and prepaid expense.

  • Ownership of Fixed Asset maintenance including managing BNA, work in progress tracking, preparation and posting monthly depreciation expense.

  • Assists with the preparation for all Audits and prepares and / or assists in the preparation of the Quarterly Kit Schedules and Annual Tax Packages required for reporting to ITW.

  • Provide support to Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable. Duties may include vouching invoices, inter-company reconciliations, and cash application support/ reconciliation and bank account review.

  • Processing inter-company reconciliations. Proving support to IC partners with questions and providing missing documents.

  • Processing weekly payment runs

  • Managing and processing bi-weekly payroll for 500+ employees, completing all payroll entries for month end. Including US, Canada and Puerto Rico.

  • Continuous review and evaluation of processes for improved efficiencies. Helps to select and implement new systems and procedures as appropriate.

  • Assists with the timely and accurate filings and / or reporting of all Property Taxes, Business Licenses, VAT refunds, Sales Tax and 1099 data to suppliers and the IRS.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required :

  • Requires accounting and computer knowledge, normally acquired in 3+ years of experience in an accounting environment. Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.

  • Must possess leadership qualities, including being flexible, reliable and an effective communicator, working effectively with co-workers, both internal and external to the department.

  • A positive attitude focused on understanding, anticipating, and responding to the needs of the accounting manager, customers, both internal and external to the department and company.

  • Interpersonal skills needed to deal effectively with suppliers and company personnel in resolving discrepancies and disputes.

  • Strong Analytical Skills and detail oriented. Aptitude to work quickly and accurately to process large volumes of work.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with accounting software and cost/project accounting tools, including consolidating and reporting software.
