Duties: On behalf of an independent designer and manufacturer of highly engineered electrical and electronic components, will be responsible for developing and driving global electronics purchasing strategy to ensure its appropriate alignment with the organizational goals of the Electronics division and with market conditions. Specific responsibilities include: Establish short and long-range strategies, plans, specifications, and policies that fit within a broader electronic components production plan and strategy. Identify emerging trends in the electronic components industry and requirements for all future product needs to ensure the company's consistent access to a world-class supplier base. Develop and maintain key supplier relationships with electronic component manufacturers to position the company as the market leader in sourcing and purchasing strategies, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain existing and establish new strategies. Provide leadership to the commodity strategy and supplier development teams to support commercialized products and ensure their readiness for launch while meeting all cost and quality standards. Lead a wide range of commercial negotiations for new programs in development on the company's behalf. Maintain awareness of industry technology trends and the company's products and market position to assure the company's development of optimal procurement strategies regarding present and future material availability. Engage with engineering teams to drive supplier innovation and design for the manufacturability of electronic components. Partner with product line management, marketing, research & design (R&D), and operations to understand product functionality, financial requirements, and timing needs for new and developing opportunities. Introduce and highlight potential gaps in supply chains to support electronic product innovation. Prepare weekly, monthly, and gated component readiness status updates. Partner with procurement and cross functional stakeholders to identify and implement a comprehensive alternate electronics component strategy throughout the product life cycle.  Establish global commodity teams and global sourcing strategies including leveraging low-cost solutions with high results. Drive accountability and high levels of performance throughout the organization.

Requires a Master's degree in Business Administration or a closely related field of study plus 6 years of experience as an Electronics procurement managerial position within the automotive industry for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or a Tier 1 supplier. Experience may be gained pre- or post- Master's degree. In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a closely related field of study plus 8 years of experience. Requires experience in the following: (1) Proven track record establishing global commodity teams and global sourcing strategies including leveraging low-cost solutions with high results. (2) Successful completion of coursework in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management. (3) Demonstrated understanding of lean manufacturing for electronics manufacturing and electronics manufacturing related processes and costs. (4) Background: a. Successfully establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external key stakeholders; b. Thinking strategically with a keen sense of the importance of tactical execution; and c. Working in a Matrixed environment. (5) Well-honed negotiation skills and proven track record challenging negotiations in a complex international environment.
