ITC Holdings Mgr, Payroll in Novi, Michigan
JOB SUMMARY
Manage the payroll processing function, including compliance with payroll laws and regulations; coordinate accounting and reporting for pension, post-retirement, and other benefit plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the processing of bi-weekly payroll and any special payroll runs; reviews payroll reports and performs analysis to help ensure accurate processing; manages relationship with external service provider.
Assesses compliance with federal, state and local payroll requirements and makes determinations regarding application of wage and hour law and oversees preparation of reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
Works with other subsidiary payroll departments for combined payroll reporting.
Reviews payroll related journal entries, account reconciliations and external reporting.
Coordinates with IT and HR on HRIS updates for payroll related features and periodic system testing for continued SOX compliance.
Maintains calendar to ensure timely tax filings, payroll processing, funding, and reporting of payroll matters.
Works with parent company, third-party service organizations and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to administer required payroll deductions, adjustments and filings for compliance with CRA payroll tax withholding rules.
Manages and communicates special payroll processes for executive specific compensation.
Interfaces with external auditors on annual audits of the accounting and financial reporting of payroll and; interfaces with IRS auditors and third-party providers on payroll and workers compensation audits.
Provides information for the annual 10-K filing.
Coaches, mentors, trains, develops, motivates and supervises staff; assigns and reviews work and appraises employees.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Microsoft Office/Excel proficiency.
Oracle Cloud system/reporting experience preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in accounting with a minimum of three (3) years focus on payroll.
Experience in a leadership role (managing people, processes or projects).
Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
Expert knowledge and understanding of accounting and financial reporting best practices and internal controls.
Superior analytical and organizational skills with a focus on synthesizing information, using sound judgment, formulating conclusions, and articulating recommendations in a way that is meaningful and valuable.
