JOB PURPOSE

We’re looking for an experienced Development Specialist with a demonstrated track record of donor stewardship, managing donor data, maintaining accurate donor records, coordinating fundraising initiatives, working with development teams, and implementing fundraising strategies.

JOB SUMMARY

Our ideal candidate is passionate about Dixon Center’s mission and will represent Dixon Center to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity. The candidate must be comfortable working collaboratively with the development team, executive team and the board of directors. The candidate works autonomously to track revenue through constituent data entry and management, gift processing and acknowledgements in an accurate and timely manner with a sharp focus on stewardship. The candidate can analyze data and is familiar with market trends to help inform decision making to support our overall strategy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Promote awareness Dixon Center’s mission

Manage donor movement utilizing available tools and databases

3.

Implementation and management of annual Development Plan, calendar and activities using project management tools

4.

Coordinate and execute fundraising campaigns such as appeals, mailings and cultivation events to meet the organization’s targets

5.

Maintain existing relationships with individual and corporate donors, including acknowledgment and recognition

6.

Represent the organization’s mission to donors, potential donors, and other external stakeholders

7.

Assist with the creation and implementation of the Development Plan that incorporates a range of strategies including annual appeals, major donors, grants, corporate and individual appeals, social media and special events.

Manage data in Raiser’s Edge donor database and Salesforce to ensure record accuracy and completeness:

  • Create and update constituent records

  • Record grants, gifts and donations accurately

  • Generate donor acknowledgement letters and gift receipts for cash and in-kind contributions within the required timeframe

  • Track, measure, and monitor donor giving and moves management

  • Design and run reports and assist with database maintenance

    1. Research premiums options, manages donor gift fulfillment and shipping and collateral distribution

      1. Coordinates social media outputs. Assists in managing website.
    2. Assists in grant research and tracking and other development opportunities.

      1. Maintains donor pipeline and produces weekly gift and revenue reports for Development Team analysis.

      2. Create queries and customized reports for development and marketing purposes.

      3. Uses experience and discretion when making donor pipeline recommendations.

      4. Serves as primary liaison on behalf of the Development Team with finance and accounting staff to ensure donor care policies, processes and procedures are maintained, updated, and adhered to.

      5. Undertakes projects and performs other related job duties, as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant disciple

    Job Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ fundraising experience including database management or related experience required.

  • Proven track record of planning and initiating successful fundraising strategies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and knowledge of communication principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of social media tools: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Knowledge of website management.

  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and follow through with minimal direction.

  • Attention to detail, project management skills, and being highly organized a must.

  • Flexibility in varied job assignments.

  • Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of accuracy and manage confidential and sensitive information.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, is self-motivated and proactive.

  • Experience managing data in Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce; knowledge and familiarity with digital tools such as grant research and grant proposal development platforms (i.e., Foundation Directory, Candid, GrantWatch)

  • Experience utilizing HCM Oracle a plus

  • Financial Accounting, audit and financial statement analysis.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Excel, Pivot tables, vlookups, PowerPoint, Word, and mail merge functions.

  • Experience with project management tools such as Monday.com.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Conditions This is a virtual position. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard home office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Special Schedule This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM but will be determined by your supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel Demands Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected to fulfill position responsibilities. Although the position is virtual in nature, regular travel to develop and maintain donor relations will be required.
