Job Description:

Parsons is hiring an experienced Principal Structural Engineer to support Building/Facility design for our Ontario region. Since 1968, we’ve built a reputation for offering unparalleled expertise in the design, engineering, and construction of transportation-related infrastructure in Canada. We have a strong client base and backlog of work across Canada, which enables our Engineers to support multiple projects and enjoy a diverse project portfolio. Our team supports a portfolio of projects in both Rail/Transit and Bridge market areas. We dedicate ourselves to provide innovative designs and solutions for tough infrastructure challenges.

In this role you will provide designs for various Industrial buildings, metro stations and other similar facilities. We expect you to coordinate with other architecture and mechanical/electrical teams for a comprehensive design.

Responsibilities:

Develop Structural deliverables for all phases of building/facilities projects including: conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed design.

Develop typical Structural engineering drawings, specifications, plan profiles,

Participate in the development of Structural engineering and design effort hour estimates, material takeoffs, and construction cost estimates.

Participate in the development of Structural construction bid packages.

Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.

Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.

Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.

Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 12+ years of related Structural design experience in facilities and industrial buildings. Must have significant experience with Steel and concrete building/structures design.

  • Professional Engineer registration is required (or PENG in process may be considered.

  • Proficiency in utilizing Microstation, Civil 3D CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required

  • Prefer experience with REVIT
