Robert Half Cost Accountant in Oceanside, California

Description We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team in Oceanside, California. In this role, you will be responsible for creating month-end journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and calculating aged inventory reserves. You will also analyze monthly actuals of cost-of-goods sold and manufacturing with forecasted budget, and process standard cost in our ERP system.

Responsibilities:

• Create month-end journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts

• Calculate aged inventory reserves and research inventory and work order variances

• Analyze monthly actuals of cost-of-goods sold and manufacturing with forecasted budget

• Collaborate with the accounting team in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate accounting reports

• Process standard cost in organization’s ERP system and analyze Bill of Material (BOM) and allocate labor overhead to work orders

• Partner with accounting manager on the semi-annual cost and work center rate revisions and physical inventory count observations

• Participate in the semi-annual budget preparation with the accounting team

• Contribute to internal control activities, JSOX compliance testing, and documentation

• Prepare ad-hoc reports utilizing the organizations’ Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for internal and external customers as necessary

• Use MS Excel spreadsheet software to quantify and illustrate moderately complex financial reports, statements, and/or projections. Requirements • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Proven experience in cost accounting or a related role is preferred

• Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and procedures

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required

• Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software is a plus

• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail

• Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must adhere to ethical standards

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

• Must be legally authorized to work in the country where this job is located without needing sponsorship.
