Your Opportunity

The role of the Environmental Remediation Senior Environmental Scientist is to support our local environmental remediation team based out of Oklahoma. This position will support project management and provide technical support for groundwater and soil remediation projects across multiple industries. The position requires an independent individual with solid problem solving and communication skills, and environmental remediation experience. Project management experience and professional licensure (e.g. PE, PG) are preferred.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work with project managers and senior project staff in producing high-quality work products for our clients

  • Support project delivery including providing technical input to projects

  • Coordinate and assist with scoping and scheduling field investigations.

  • Design and lead soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigations.

  • Fieldwork, including local travel, and some regional travel, when necessary.

  • Site health and safety planning and completing work safely.

  • Collect, and interpret data, conduct analyses, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Compiling, evaluating, analyzing, and presenting/reporting subsurface investigation data.

  • Understanding of engineering plans and specifications.

  • Contributing to design and optimization of environmental remediation systems and strategies.

  • Preparation of health & safety plans, work plans, reports, and other technical documents.

  • Review, communicate, and manage the project health and safety plan so that project personnel, client and subcontractors are aware of risks and hazards, and incidents are prevented.

  • Coordination and oversight of subcontractors, including health and safety management.

  • EHS due diligence, Phase I ESAs, and environmental assessment, in support of business and property acquisitions.

  • EHS regulatory compliance assessments and audits at client facilities and where clients perform field activities for industrial and commercial clients

  • Storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPs) and Spill Prevention and Control Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans.

  • Assisting project managers in developing proposals; budgets and schedules; coordinating with clients, stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and internal project staff; and performing and overseeing project technical work.

  • Support and develop business relationships with a focus on clients in the Gulf Region (Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma). Opportunities exist to develop national and global relations to generate opportunities for Stantec worldwide.

  • Mentoring and/or supervising team members (e.g. engineer or geologists in training).

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel regionally and locally as required for proposal and project needs (up to 30%).

  • Ability to pass a background security check and drug screen.

  • Valid US driver’s license and good driving record.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field. Masters preferred.

40-Hr HAZWOPER training preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of prior experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting but will require field work and field site visits. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Extended hours and schedules may be necessary to fit project demands.
