Trailer Mechanic Pay:\$18-26/HR (Depending on experience) Hours:Monday-Friday 7:30AM-4PM Job type:Temp to Hire Location:Yukon, Oklahoma Job Description: The Service Technician, reporting directly to the Service Manager, plays a crucial role in servicing and repairing semi-trailers to meet DOT standards. Responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including diagnosing and addressing issues with braking systems, hydraulic and air systems for tractors and trailers, as well as refrigeration units for Reefer Techs. Additionally, duties extend to replacing flooring, rub rails, doors, and door trim, and conducting repairs on roofs, panels, nose panels, and upper rails. Key responsibilities include effectively managing repair time, maintaining current vehicle maintenance files and DOT compliance documentation, and safely operating company-owned vehicles and equipment. The role also involves preparing and maintaining maintenance records in accordance with company policies and regulations, ensuring a safe and clean work environment, and adhering to proper safety protocols. The Service Technician should possess strong communication skills to effectively relay repair progress to service personnel and maintain meticulous documentation.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position should be adaptable to various climate conditions and flexible with their working hours, as service calls may occur outside of normal business hours. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with owners, drivers, and dispatchers, providing clear explanations of repair situations, timelines, and costs. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate self-motivation, with the ability to diagnose and determine necessary repairs independently, including welding, electrical work, fabrication, sheet metal, and mechanical tasks. Experience with diesel engines is advantageous, and a positive attitude coupled with a willingness to learn new skills is highly valued. Other requirements include a valid driver\'s license with no restrictions, good attendance, adherence to grooming and clothing guidelines, and possession of proper tools. DOT certification in FHWA Inspections & Air Brakes is preferred. The role involves physical demands such as lifting and moving objects of varying weights, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and occasional sitting, as well as exposure to various weather conditions and potentially hazardous substances.
