Job Information

Aston Carter Staff Accountant in Omaha, Nebraska

  • Assists with the month-end and year-end GL close process and resulting report requirements including but not limited to financial statement preparation and review as well as various other monthly reports

  • Performs balance sheet reconciliation process

  • Aides in the monitoring and recording transactions effecting daily position and inventory balances

  • Performs General Ledger (GL) maintenance, including reviewing GL account mapping and adding new accounts as necessary

  • Assists in managing customer credit and lien administration, including new customer set-up, assessment of credit limits, monitoring of aged receivables and periodic review of existing customers

  • Assists with preparation and completion of the year-end audit and regulatory audits as necessary

  • Monitors the calendar for regulatory and tax filing requirements, grain taxes and tonnage reports

  • Grain taxes and tonnage reports

  • Assist with settlements

  • Works within approved budget; Identifies and recommends cost saving measures.

  • Identifies control and/or procedural weaknesses and recommends improvements

  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting and participate in special projects on an as-needed basis

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in accounting or business

Experience doing month end close (not just preparing it)

General ledger

Reconciliations

Excel (pivot tables)

Filing sales tax or property tax returns
