Fast-Track Emergency Room Technician

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Fast-Track Emergency Room Technician is a crucial member of our Fast-Track Emergency Department team, playing a pivotal role in providing swift and efficient support to licensed medical staff. In this position, you will perform clinical duties based on competencies and training, always under the supervision of a licensed nurse and/or provider who is concurrently on duty.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

Clinical and Non-Clinical Support:

  • Assist licensed staff in performing clinical duties, demonstrating:
  • Proficiency in venipuncture and knowledge of lab draw procedures, including point-of-care testing tailored to our Fast-Track setting.
  • Ability to apply orthopedic support products, such as plaster splints, casts, and wraps.
  • Basic wound care skills.
  • Desirable knowledge of cardiac arrhythmia recognition.
  • Competence in obtaining and accurately recording vital signs, including:
  • Temperature measurement (oral, tympanic, and skin).
  • Pulse assessment (radial, apical, and distal).
  • Blood pressure measurement, including the correct application and selection of the appropriate cuff size.
  • Pulse oxygenation monitoring.

  • Maintain adequate stock levels and restock supplies as needed.
  • Offer standby support as appropriate.
  • Facilitate the rapid acquisition and delivery of supplies and lab samples upon request to enhance our Fast-Track process.

  • Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Position Qualifications:
