Bassett Healthcare Physical Therapy Assistant in Oneonta, New York

What you'll do The Physical Therapy Assistant administers physical therapy treatments, interventions, and/or physical agents under the supervision of the Physical Therapist to restore or improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills, to achieve optimal physical function and prevent disabilities, in accordance with principles and practices of the profession. The physical therapy assistant may provide treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation, and/or outpatient settings. Independently carries out PT treatment plan of care as established by Physical Therapist. Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act. Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards. Demonstrates the ability to treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes. Completes all required documentation following treatment, ensuring documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved. Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services. Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner. Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication. Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promoting professional standards in physical therapy. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intra- departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. Communicates with supervising therapists, through written or oral means, the progress of assigned patients and/or unexpected changes in patient status. Modifies the treatment plan, based on anticipated functional outcomes in consultation with the therapists. Documents findings in the record. Additional duties as assigned. What we need from you Education: Degree from an accredited PTA program, required Experience may be considered in lieu of education Experience: Experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant is desired, preferred New graduates will be considered License/ Certification: NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license or valid temporary permit, required BLS CPR certification within 6 months of date of hire Skills: Clinical Skills Communication Computer Skill Reading/Writing/Comprehension Creative Thinking Time Management Organizing/Categorizing records Attention to Detail Interacting with People Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, repetitive motion, stooping Frequent typing/ clerical/ dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, seeing/ monitor/ computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking Constant hearing Hazards: Occasional bodily fluids/ blood-borne exposure Working Conditions: Occasional extreme temperatures Travel: Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis Total Rewards Bassett Healthcare Network’s commitment to our employees includes benefit programs carefully designed with the needs and values of all our employees in mind. This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to: USD $15,000.00 Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement. Pay Range Minimum: USD $26.77/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $40.16/Hr.
