We are looking for:

A Senior Qualifications and Materials Engineer to develop and lead test programs for the qualification or screening of composite materials such as prepregs used in aerospace and other similar industries. This position is part of our EMEA Materials and Testing Engineering team within the Composite Materials Business unit.

We count on you for:

  • Effective management of projects of varying size and complexity to ensure they are completed on schedule, will oversee the input from other team members involved

  • Maintaining awareness of other projects within the team in order to provide guidance where needed

  • Defining and negotiating programs of work with various stakeholders

  • Anticipating risks, future challenges and opportunities for improvement, making recommendations to management where needed

  • Interacting with customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with other departments and provide technical support as required

  • Contribute to team development through coaching of junior engineers and generating new ideas with colleagues

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience

  • Interpretation of technical documents and recommend qualification strategies in compliance with material specifications, test methods and corporate standards

  • Scrutinize and document results and produce technical reports to a high standard

  • Adherence to management of change procedures through close collaboration with site and global quality

  • Keep up to date with the latest industry developments

You will bring:

  • A degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science or similar

  • A strong background in characterisation of composite materials and/or adhesives.

  • Experience in the aerospace industry is highly advantageous six-sigma certification is preferred

  • Some experience with APQP and PPAP

  • An ability to prioritise work streams to deliver against dynamic objectives

  • High standards with respect to quality and have a strong sense of urgency

  • A proven track record in managing projects and handling complex situations

  • Proven problem solving ability combined with a structured way of working

  • A high degree of customer focus and an ability to communicate effectively at different levels within internal, customer and supplier organizations

  • A high level of self-motivation and ‘get it done’ attitude

  • A solid understanding of materials and processes relevant to advanced composites

  • An understanding of analytical, physical, and mechanical test methods

  • A willingness to take on additional responsibility as required
