Silgan Plastics Corporation Machine Operator-2-2-3-7AM-7PM in Ottawa, Ohio

  • Work and maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist with machine and downstream changeovers as needed.
  • Restart equipment during normal production runs for non-mechanical related issues.
  • Maintain records for Quality, OFF and process improvements.
  • Measure parts in accordance with the control plans and react accordingly to maintain good quality product.
  • Assist with the trouble shooting of issues during startup and production runs.
  • Work with Quality department, process technicians and maintenance and cross train.
  • Promote safety and work safely throughout the facility following all Safety Policies.
  • Wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and required GMP gear.
  • Be aware of all Emergency Exits and know procedures for Emergency Evacuation.
  • Know the location of the SDS Safety Data Sheets and how to utilize properly.
  • Know not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training and authorization to complete the task safely.
  • Always follow proper LOTO lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Never remove or bypass machine guards and NEVER while the machine is in operation.
  • Be cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipment.
  • Report all injuries or accidents to the Department Lead or Manager or immediately.
  • Understand and follow plants housekeeping guidelines.
  • Identify and implement lean and continuous improvement actions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Member of the HACCP team upon request.
  • Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
  • Inspect work areas, and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Effectively us verbal and written communications.

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
  • Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting. * SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable): This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Mechanical Aptitude a plus.
