Silgan Plastics Corporation Machine Operator-2-2-3-7AM-7PM in Ottawa, Ohio
- Work and maintain a safe environment.
- Assist with machine and downstream changeovers as needed.
- Restart equipment during normal production runs for non-mechanical related issues.
- Maintain records for Quality, OFF and process improvements.
- Measure parts in accordance with the control plans and react accordingly to maintain good quality product.
- Assist with the trouble shooting of issues during startup and production runs.
- Work with Quality department, process technicians and maintenance and cross train.
- Promote safety and work safely throughout the facility following all Safety Policies.
- Wearing all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and required GMP gear.
- Be aware of all Emergency Exits and know procedures for Emergency Evacuation.
- Know the location of the SDS Safety Data Sheets and how to utilize properly.
- Know not to operate any equipment or perform any work without the proper training and authorization to complete the task safely.
- Always follow proper LOTO lock out/tag out procedures.
- Never remove or bypass machine guards and NEVER while the machine is in operation.
- Be cautious and aware of lift trucks and moving equipment.
- Report all injuries or accidents to the Department Lead or Manager or immediately.
- Understand and follow plants housekeeping guidelines.
- Identify and implement lean and continuous improvement actions.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Member of the HACCP team upon request.
- Evaluates and takes appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
- Inspect work areas, and look for unsafe acts/conditions.

- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
- Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting. * SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable): This position requires the cognitive and mental ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. Mechanical Aptitude a plus.
