The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Insurance Squad within the Digital Platform Delivery and Architecture group.
The SQA Analyst in this role will be responsible for test strategy development, manual test execution, researching testing automation tools, deploying new test frameworks, and managing the development and execution of testing deliverables for IT projects. They will play a crucial role in implementing, and maintaining automated testing solutions that ensure software applications' quality, reliability, and performance. This involves designing and building test frameworks, writing, and executing test scripts, and identifying and resolving issues and defects. Automating repetitive tests save QA Automation Engineers time and resources while ensuring that software products are delivered with minimal errors, bugs, and other issues. This role is critical in enhancing the quality and performance of software applications.
In this role, you will be responsible for writing, and executing test scripts, integrating automated tests into the development process, and collaborating closely with the development team to identify and rectify defects. A background in computer science, proficiency in programming languages such as .NET, Python, or C#, and experience with automation testing tools like Selenium or Robot Framework are essential prerequisites for the ideal candidate. Practical communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail are critical for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and devise software testing project deliverables, including test strategy, detailed test plan/approach, test cases, test results summary and defect management tracking and resolution
Define test automation strategy, develop, and maintain automated test scripts to ensure quality and efficiency in our development cycle
Coordinate or develop test requirements as required and perform gap analysis between technical design specifications and business requirements
Work with business users to complete User Acceptance testing and support the analysis of an gaps found during the User Acceptance process
Identify, analyze, and document defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, and content
Establish and maintain testing standards and procedures to ensure reliability and scalability
Consult with product development team and business analyst to evaluate system interfaces operational requirements, and performance requirements of overall system
Review product design documentation, business requirements and user stories to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable
Recommend design improvements or corrections to Business Analyst throughout the development process
Apply risk-based testing to projects and report risk assessment back to PO/Business Analyst, identifying, analyzing, and responding to project risks as necessary
Work closely with the Product Owners and Scrum Masters to estimate and plan project testing schedules, workload, and testing resource capacity
Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions
Generate test cases to ensure that all functional requirements of a system are captured during the product design phase
Execute test plans and create test reports to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction
Perform defect reporting and provide product feedback based on customer requirements
Maintain effective communication with the project software developers and business analysts on project limitation, capability, and potential performance impacts
Screening Criteria
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management information systems or related field
Minimum 2 years of Agile working experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience in QA test automation or software development
Minimum 5 years' experience in Web Application Testing: Proven track record of testing web applications, including functional, usability, security, and performance testing
Minimum 3 years’ experience testing the backend services (API) and integration points of application
Advanced knowledge of IT systems development principles and practices
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Experience with Azure Dev Ops, Jira or other requirement/defect management tool(s)
Assets
Experience or knowledge of the credit insurance domain
Knowledge of database management and SQL for testing database applications and verifying data integrity
Experience in using source code management system (GitHub)
Experience with programming with Python and Robot Framework
Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
Programming/scripting skills in languages such as .NET, Python, Java, Selenium or C#
Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
Salary Range:
- Software Engineer 17: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,012 to $108,017 plus a performance-based incentive.

Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
