POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Project Engineer role will function as technical management of equipment manufacturing processes for the Food Business and our customer base. Responsible to prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned engineering projects.

POSITION SCOPE

The Electrical Project Engineer role will focus on electrical project engineering activities to help drive customer equipment build progression and completion. This role involves working with a cross-functional team to help innovate engineering design and implement solutions to meet customer needs. Responsible to schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned equipment engineering project activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Preparing, scheduling, and coordinating of assigned engineering projects, primarily in production-scale machinery built to customer specifications for end use in their facilities.

  • Responsible for overall electrical design of in-house equipment builds.

  • Perform programming and debug of in-house builds to ensure proper electrical design prior to shipment to customer facility.

  • Innovate and optimize electrical equipment designs for future cost out and / or efficiency opportunities.

  • Responsible for providing machine shop staff direction and project monitoring.

  • Interact with customers to interpret their project requirements and design equipment solutions to meet their specific needs.

  • Work with various in-house departments on budgeting, cost-control, inventory management, project forecasting, and customer collaboration.

  • Communicating with Engineering & Equipment Manager regarding forecasting and build progression. Involved in all aspects of the planning, design, build, and installation of the equipment into the end user facility.

  • Ensure project compliance with standards, codes, policies, practices, and specifications. These include regulatory and international guidelines, as well as those of the customer.

  • To carry out all activities in a safe and professional manner following Company procedures to ensure that all work is properly done and documented.

The Ideal Candidate

Desired Background

Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline desired. 3+ years of experience in project engineering, project management, design engineering, or equipment integration.

Knowledge, Skills & Talents

More specifically, we would seek the following attributes and competencies for the position:

  • Position based in Pittsburgh, PA

  • Full time position working 5 days per week.

  • Flexible schedule available

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge and experience in design and visualization software (SolidWorks, CAD, etc.)

  • Willingness to learn and train in Solidworks visualization software

  • Experience reading electrical schematics / P&ID / CAD diagrams.

  • Programming experience – Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation suite) is preferred.

  • Experience with electrical wiring / troubleshooting is preferred.

  • Advanced skill in MS Office Suite of tools. Comfortable with data tracking, document preparation, and giving reports / presentations.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Travel up to 10%

  • Must have good verbal communication skills and be able to write technical reports or documents for either internal or external use.

  • Good interpersonal skills are needed as the person interfaces substantially within the business and customer base.
