Job Overview

Responsible for the management of food services, including the cafeteria and special food services in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.

Pay: $60,000.00/year

Hours worked: M-F, 8am-5pm

Retirement Plan: Eligible to participate in company 401(k) with Company matching after 1 year

Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date

Sick Time: Ten days per year

Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year

Responsibilities Essential Duties and Job Functions:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the administrative and programmatic activities of the food services department.
  • Directs and manages the culinary staff, including disciplinary action, making hiring recommendations, managing time and approving hours worked.
  • Assist the center director and FandA director in the preparation of the departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting food services.
  • Provide appetizing, nutritious, and realistically proportioned meals in a clean, comfortable environment.
  • Ensure quality of production and food purchase requirements. Maintain cost control to stay within budget limitation.
  • Conduct inspections of food service areas.
  • Manage preparation of food services for special Center functions and visitors.
  • Coordinate cafeteria services with Culinary Arts career technical training program. Supervise students assigned to work support/work based learning in the Center's cafeteria.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety and OSHA practices.
  • Review, report and process accident/injury reports for staff and student job related injuries. Identify unsafe practices and develop corrective measures to minimize risk and lost time accidents in accordance with corporate, government and Job Corps regulations.
  • Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Mandatory:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training in food preparation and 5-years food services experience.
  • One-year certificate in food services field from college or technical school
  • One (1) year supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Serv-Safe ce tificate within 30 days of employment
  • Successfully pass any background check and/drug test required on the contract.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
