A Brief Overview

Assist with the development and implementation of the organization's emergency management policy under the direction of the Program Manager of Emergency Management; ensure the organization is operationally ready to support its business operations before, during and after an emergency incident and to ensure the organization is compliant with business continuity and emergency preparedness legislation and standards relevant to its business units.

This role covers several locations in the company including LPCH.

What you will do

  • Plans, formulates, promotes, coordinates and implements programs for emergency preparedness.

  • Assists emergency preparedness planning and administration.

  • As assigned, manages Disaster Cache and Disaster Supply Locations for the Office of Emergency Management. Supervises contacted staff performing work on Cache.

  • Maintains readiness of all Emergency Management Resources and Assets and ensure the disaster cache matches the capabilities described in the Emergency Operations Plan.

  • Maintains project documentation related necessary for regulatory compliance.

  • Researches, develops, and maintains comprehensive emergency plans, conducts technical studies in disaster planning and analyzes potential disasters.

  • Instructs skills training for the Office of Emergency Management.

  • Maintains printed emergency preparedness resources for the organization and assists staff on using the appropriate resources before and during response.

  • Assist in planning, ordinating and executing emergency drills and exercises.

  • Participates as a member of the SHC Emergency Management Team during exercises (tabletop, functional and full-scale) and actual emergencies and disasters.

  • Monitors local, state and federal disaster preparedness information requirements.

  • Prepares and revises plans, reports, correspondence, and procedures.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or 4+ years of applicable experience

Experience Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of: emergency preparedness problems and their resolution; principles of administrative management and governmental organization; community organization and resources; principles of training and education; technical issues related to Emergency Preparedness for natural and human caused disasters such as earthquakes, hazardous materials, civil defense, and floods; principles and techniques used in the development and utilization of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS).

  • Skills of: Performing under pressure; first-responder experience such as military, dispatch, emergency room, law enforcement; strong professional skills such as task management, strong email/communication abilities, mannerisms.

  • Ability to: plan, promote, coordinate and implement programs for emergency preparedness for the hospital and clinics; work effectively with a wide variety of personnel, including physicians, staff, and others who hold varying roles and have varying responsibilities in all phases of emergency management; work in a complex, diverse environment with rapidly changing priorities; communicate effectively orally and in writing; maintain good public relations with public safety organizations, city and county officials and others; use a personal computer including such business software applications as Microsoft Office Suite; provide training on emergency preparedness and HICS, SEMS and NIMS; analyze administrative and organizational problems and conduct studies in disaster planning; work independently, organize and prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines in a stressful environment; comply with all applicable governmental regulations and hospital policies and procedures; maintain records and controls and prepare correspondence and reports; be available to report for duty on a 24 hour a day basis when needed; use various types of communication equipment such as satellite telephone, hand held radios, and other electronic communication devices.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $41.25 - $53.63 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
