SCOTT STUBBS LIVESTOCK Range Livestock Herder (Temporary) in PAROWAN, Utah

Temporary Need: 06/15/24 - 01/31/25. Two (2) full-time, seasonal, temporary Open Range Livestock Herders needed. Requirements: A minimum of three (3) months experience herding sheep, have working knowledge of farm machinery and livestock nutrition. Wage is $1,986.76/mo. Location: Work will be performed in Parowan, Utah. Multiple work sites: At employers private property, and employers leased US Forest Service and BLM properties located in Iron and Garfield Counties, Utah. All under the employers management and control. Duties: The Open Range Livestock Herder will be required to be On-Call 24/7 and live and work on the range more than 50% of the time. Livestock is rotated on seasonal range. The sheep are on the range pastures and moved every 5-10 days between range sites on different allotments. The Livestock Herder will move camps to over 20 different campsites. Range Duties include: Attends livestock that is grazing on range or pasture. Herds livestock. Takes down and sets up of portable electric fencing and also working corrals. Beds down livestock near evening campsite and within night pen. Guards Livestock from predatory animals, and from eating poisonous plants. May examine livestock for signs of illness and administer vaccines, medications and insecticides according to instruction. May sort and cut culls. May feed livestock supplementary rations. Employee must be willing to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision and live and work singly or in small groups of workers in isolated areas for extended periods of time.Worker must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Most duties are performed out-of-doors and entail exposure to extreme heat and cold; dust, rain, snow, and wind; and herding hazards; poisonous snakes and predators common in range lands. General supervision will be provided by the ranch owner. Terms and Conditions: The employer will furnish, without cost/deposit, all tools, supplies, or equipment required in the performance of work. The employer will provide, at no cost to the worker, Workers' Compensation coverage or private insurance which is equal to Workers' Compensation laws for comparable employment. Applicants that have not worked as a livestock worker during the past twelve (12) months, up to two (2) references will be required. Must provide employment eligibility documentation (I9 verification) upon hire. The employer guarantees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work days equal to at least 3/4's of the total work period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or advertised contractual first day of need. Whichever is later to occur, and ending on the expiration date specified. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer shall pay the worker the cost incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer ($15.88/day, maximum $59/day with receipts). The offered wage equals or exceeds the highest of the prevailing wage issued and determined by DOL for the time period the work is performed (or whichever is the highest pay rate). This job is in connection with a future H-2A labor certification application.
