The Role: Analyst, Financial Analysis

The Role: S&P Global Market Intelligence, the division of S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) that provides essential intelligence for individuals, companies, and governments to make decisions with confidence, is searching for a Senior Specialist, Financial Analysis to support the Market Intelligence Divisional Finance, reporting team. The Senior Specialist, Financial Analysis will play a key role in supporting the monthly close and estimate process by aggregating required actual data, preparing and distributing reports, updating forecasts, and assisting with daily accounting and operational support. Additionally, the new Senior Specialist, Financial Analysis will provide support for the day-to-day management of financial operations involving expenses as well as assisting with special projects.

The Location: Pasig City, Philippines

The Impact: This position will work alongside the Finance Manager and Director to ensure all monthly financial reporting and analysis is delivered timely and accurately to facilitate decision making by management.

The Career Opportunity: The role offers the opportunity to gain a centralized view of S&P Global Market Intelligence Divisional Finance, with responsibilities focusing on financial reporting and analysis. There is a track record of advancement within the Divisional Finance team and the broader S&P Global Finance organization.

The Team / The Business: The S&P Global Market Intelligence Divisional Finance team consists of employees in Charlottesville, London, New York, and Pasig City. The MI Content, Technology, and Insight Finance team is currently based in US locations. The Team interacts with other divisions and S&P Global Corporate as well.

Your Skills: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math or related field. Knowledge of US GAAP preferred, 2+ years’ work experience in public/private accounting or finance department, strong skills in MS Excel, experience with Oracle Financials, Oracle Smart View, Anaplan, Ariba and Workday is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Monthly Financial Close

  • Assist with monthly accounting close and financial reporting process, including P&L reporting and expense spend analysis.

  • Prepare journal entries and applicable balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Analyze historical data for trends and unusual variances; comparing results to estimate and budget.

  • Review monthly expense activity (Ariba, Oracle, Other).

  • Prepare analysis for ad hoc requests and special projects, and provide direct support to the Managers and Directors of Finance on an as-needed basis.

Accounting & Operational Support

  • Assist with account coding inquiries.

  • Assist the business with invoice or procurement questions, and/or connecting these team members to a BSC resource for resolution.

  • Assist in approving Ariba purchase requisitions.

  • Track and assist with approving Workday job requisitions.

Annual Budget & Monthly Estimate Process

  • Build reports to research and validate forecast assumptions.

  • Update forecast assumptions in Anaplan models

Other Accountabilities:

  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the business and financial system tools that are critical to the reporting process.

  • Alert management to accounting or operational problems and suggest actionable solutions.

  • Assist with vendor management and governance-related activities.

  • Provide thorough and accurate responses to senior management and business leads inquires.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Math or related field.

  • 2+ years’ work experience in public/private accounting or finance department.

  • Knowledge of US GAAP or other similar accounting principles is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and as a fully contributing member of a team. The preferred shift will be a split shift that overlaps with US-based team members.

  • Demonstrate the investigative research and analytical capabilities necessary to provide the leadership team with the accurate and insightful interpretation of financial information.

  • Possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions for operational and financial problems.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability with an inquisitive mind.

  • Large data manipulation experience.

  • Strong skills in MS Excel (Pivot tables, V-Lookups, IF functions, etc.) and PowerPoint.

  • Fluency with Oracle Financials or other similar financial systems, Anaplan and Oracle Smart View strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Tableau or other analytical tools preferred.

  • Knowledge of SQL and basic data warehouse experience is also preferred.

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral

  • Must be flexible to work mid and night shift.
