THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation Engineering District 11 traffic unit is actively searching for a skilled and motivated individual to join our 24-hour regional traffic management center. As a professional in our center, you will have a significant impact on ensuring the safety and efficiency of traffic in our region. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will play a crucial role in managing traffic along the western regional freeway system by operating the advanced traffic management software system (ATMS) at the western regional traffic management center. This will involve using closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) and traffic detection sensors to identify and assess any traffic incidents that may affect traffic flow. Additionally, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane on I-279/I-579 using CCTV and automated HOV controls, detection systems, and signs. You will be involved in the coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police for the dispatching of the freeway service patrol vehicles to handle incident problems during their hours of operation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work schedule varies to cover this 24-hour Traffic Management Center, 30 min. lunch period.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
